The stairways to legacy are pathways to the past, each step echoing with decisions that shaped the state. It’s the kind of place that makes you stop and think: how many moments have unfolded within these walls?

The architecture is absolutely stunning. Standing at the base of the grand staircase, it felt like stepping into a living work of art. The detailed arches and light bouncing off the red walls create a warmth that makes the space feel personal. That contrast is what drew me in, and I knew I had to capture it. But finding the perfect angle wasn’t easy.

With my camera ready, I walked up and down those stairs repeatedly, trying to get the shot just right. The Capitol itself felt alive. The shifting shadows across the carvings gave the scene a sense of movement, as if the building told its story. And honestly? It’s easy to get lost in the details here. Every column and every railing feels like a piece of art someone spent years perfecting.

I finally found the perfect spot on one of the landings, looking up toward the soaring arches. The light hit just right, illuminating the intricate carvings and giving the whole space an almost magical glow. As I snapped the shot, I realized this isn’t just a building. It’s a time capsule. It holds the energy of everyone who’s ever walked these halls, from lawmakers to visitors like me.

Later, when I looked at the photo, it struck me how much personality this Albany Capitol has.
