As I framed this shot, I aimed to capture more than just the physical structure of the Colorado Capitol's stairs. I wanted to capture its character. I adjusted my angle, capturing the tall, imposing staircase lined with intricate golden lamps that light the path to something more. With each step, the warmth of the marble columns on either side wraps around you, hinting at stories. These stairs have carried countless footsteps, each adding to the history of Colorado’s government.

Standing there, lens pointed up toward the ceiling, I thought of the generations of Coloradans who had walked these steps.
