Old Edwards Hall had something different, even though I’ve already photographed countless places. The stone walls and wood accents give it a timeless warmth and an incredibly welcoming one. There were the iron chairs, the lamp post, and greenery that made me feel like I’d stumbled into a little pocket of time, and I wanted my photo to reflect that.

As I set up my shot, I thought about all the people that have sat in those chairs. This space felt comfortable, from the way the lamppost stood tall like a gentle guide for guests, the stonework, weathered but still solid, had a quiet story to tell as well. Old Edwards Spa and Hall just worked. Luxury without fuss, comfort without being overwhelming. I took my time and made sure I got that feeling in the frame.

Visiting the Old Edwards Inn in Highlands, North Carolina isn’t about staying at a fancy hotel. It’s about being in a place where time slows down, and you can sit and cherish the little things. When I clicked the shutter, I wasn’t just clicking a picture of a building. I was encapsulating the soul of a place that has been welcoming people for years.
