When I photographed Paul and Babe, I arrived before sunrise to set up in the quiet stillness of early morning. As the sun rose, the soft glow washed over the statues, highlighting Paul’s red plaid shirt and Babe’s brilliant blue coat with a warm, fresh energy. Being there at that exact moment, with no crowds around and the day just beginning, gave me a sense of intimacy with this legendary roadside pair that I wanted to preserve in the image.
