Oklahoma City Memorial Print: Reflection Pool Wall Art

When traveling through Oklahome City, we knew we needed to come pay homage to the168 souls lost, including 19 children, with several hundred more injured when the Healing Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building was bombed on April 19, 1995.

Standing at the Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum, I saw reflections of remembrance stretching out before me. They pulled me into a calm yet haunting embrace. The scene is anchored by the dark, looming silhouette of the memorial gate. It mirrors itself in the water, each ripple a silent reminder of resilience and loss.

When I took this shot, I wanted to capture more than just a building. I wanted to capture a space that embodies both grief and hope. With every step, I felt an overwhelming respect for what this place represents. From behind the lens, I focused on the reflection, hoping the calm water would amplify the memorial’s significance. That reflection is like a bridge, linking the past with the present.

To the right, the Survivor Tree, an American elm that endured the Oklahoma bombing, adds a touch of green resilience to the scene. Its branches reach over the path, casting gentle shadows as if to shelter the memories preserved here. Above, the sky is a clean blue—simple and untouched. It contrasts with the depth and meaning within the space below.

Every inch of this place speaks, and the water's reflection adds depth to the stillness. The Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum honors the victims and reminds us of the strength of the survivors. As I clicked the shutter, I knew I was capturing not just an image, I was capturing a piece of history that belongs to everyone who visits this sacred place.
