As I turned onto this road, I froze. The contrast was stunning. The dark, wet pavement cut through the white, leading straight into the snow-covered hills. The saguaros on either side stood proudly, arms dusted in winter’s touch.

I quickly pulled over. Snow melts fast in the desert, so I had to move. I stepped out of the car, and the air was sharp and cold. The soft crunch of snow under my boots broke the silence.
